REIQ Academy | Commercial Real Estate: The State of Play

REIQ Academy | Commercial Real Estate: The State of Play

When it comes to commercial real estate, buying at the best prices/terms and selling at the highest values the market allows are
just two of the three essential steps to any successful investment. Management of the investment is the third and most vital
element in investments and, is often overlooked. Buying commercial real property should make “cash-flow sense” before making
an “equity appreciation sense.” Simply put, a cash-flowing asset tends to survive market fluctuations better than a highly leveraged
asset, and while there will be always an associated element of risk with any commercial investment, there’s a fundamental difference
between a “calculated” risk and a “gambling-type” risk. But has COVID-19 changed the rules forever? What’s the current state of
Queensland’s property market and will it make enough of a rebound to survive 2020’s pandemic legacy?

Providing insights into the state of the retail sector in Queensland, and what we can likely expect in the year ahead, Ray White
Commercial’s Manager of Major Asset Sales + National Retail Investment Sales, Julie Ryan will share valuable insights into the
current climate, who are the winners, who are hurting right now and what changes to expect in the future.

Tackling the landscape across offices, shops and industrial properties, Robert Dunne, Commercial Sales Director at Savills
Brisbane, will investigate commercial market resilience, the transformation of ‘traditional’ workplaces versus new remote options,
as well as the future prospects of office high-rises and mixed-use developments.

To add to the excitement, this webinar will be hosted by Jason Luckhardt, National Manager, NAI Harcourts. You will have the
opportunity to ask questions for the panellists.

Panellists:

Robert Dunne, Director, Commercial Sales, Savills Australia

Robert is a Licensed Commercial Real Estate agent, specializing in commercial property sales
in the Savills Brisbane office since 1995.  He is the commercial real estate agent in Brisbane
people know they can rely on to achieve the best outcome when selling their properties.

He is the leading development land salesman in Brisbane. He set the record for the highest
price ever paid for development land in the Brisbane CBD with the sale of the Supreme Court
site at 300 George St to a Taiwanese Billionaire who is investing $1bn to create Brisbane Quarter.
When the Real Estate Institute of QLD (REIQ) were selling their headquarters for the first
time in 30 years, they chose to appoint Robert and his colleagues at Savills to best represent their interests when selling.
